i’m in new york city right now with anna and we’ve had a great time so far. anna’s really into food network, so we’ve been to all these hole in the wall places out in the middle of nowhere. the best was clinton street baking company and their legendary pancakes (as seen on throwdown with bobby flay, my favorite). SO GOOD. also, she’s mildly obsessed with cupcakes, so we’ve been checking out all the recommended places. i’ve seriously tried like 10 cupcakes in the past two days. the best cupcakes were found at billy’s bakery in chelsea. in case you missed it, i totally admitted to having a favorite show on food network up there.
we went to the taping of jimmy fallon today and had a fun time. i actually think he’s hillarious, despite his awkward deliveries. he’ll get better in time as he gets more comfortable with things. the roots were freaking UNBELIEVABLE. probably the tightest band i have ever seen. questlove was so far in the pocket that there was lint in his bass drum. the biggest bummer of the taping was the fact that keane fake played to a track. yes. they did. (there were no mics on drums, no sound coming out of amps, etc.) i don’t think it’s aired yet, so if you read this before you watch them, you’ll know. i was pretty dissappointed, as i had a pretty good view from the balcony behind them and wanted to see them rock out. oh well, the roots are better anyway.
seeing wicked tomorrow. that should be awesome. also going to the moma. anna hates museums, but i figured she’d probably like this one.
long day. need sleep.
love, mark
